A week just gone, observing the comprehensive training of “Working With Self-Organized Teams”, given by my boss.
– Due to my slow brain is still not very clear about information confidential issue and copyright of materials, not all contents were exposed here.
Openning part contains :
- form a line according to the experience acting as scrum master
- form a cycle based on how much you concerned about this training
- then, form groups in maximum diversity, which promotes discussions among different opinions
It was also great that to have a Work Agreement for the whole course, and everybody helpped to obey those. Thumb voting could be used to check if everybody feels conformtable of those working agreements. Colleting expectations at the begining of training was helpful too, training structure and emphasis could be dynamically adjusted, which is actually agile🙂
By recalling the memories when we felt full of energy, we listed the important factors which everybody wants in their work. For example : new things, challenge / interesting, motivation, etc.
Therefore, to establish such an environment, it requires us to understand correctly “What is power?”. Lack of power is the most popular excuse for things not done. The list got from audience is : authority; ability, get what you want; impact others; role, position; personality; reputation, trust; experience, knowledge; responsibility; networks; money; knowledge.
Understand the ways of handling conflicts would help to jell the team, a Ways of Working workshop targets to reach the working agreement. The participants designed their roadmap for the Ways of Working workshops.
Pick up some typical problems happened in teams, and then let participants discuss how they can help the team moving forward.
What are the obstacles for teams to be self-organized? How could you help teams to be self-organized? As scrum master or coach.
Different interests between the scrum teams and product owner, and what do you do?
How will you hold a backlog grooming meeting?
Finally, “how to facilitate the retrospective” by actually holding an retrospective for this Working With Self-Organized Teams training, what a tricky idea! Simply creating a timeline, gathering data, generate insights, blah blah blah …
